As much as I love the beauty of spring, there’s nothing that makes me happier than the first few weeks of summer. And lucky for me, summer is right around the corner! I’m counting down the days to when I finally get to relax poolside without a worry in the world. But what I love even more than the summer sun is getting to finally start making some changes in my closet. I love seeing all my favorite tanks and sundresses unpacked and on hangers, but I can’t help but feel a little bored after a few days. So how can I switch things up without breaking the bank? Not only is boosting your summer style super simple, it won’t blow your vacation budget, either! Here are our favorite tips to help boost your summer style before summer is here to stay.
Accessories Are a Great Splurge
Accessories are one of the easiest ways to elevate your everyday style, especially if you’re unhappy with your wardrobe. They not only add another dimension to your outfit, but it’s a great way to recycle outfits in your closet by dressing them up or down. Looking to dress up a white tee? Add a chunky statement piece or even a layered necklace. Not only do they transform your wardrobe, they’re a great way to express your personal style in a simple way. I don’t recommend splurging on everything in your closet, but if there’s a fancy necklace that’s calling your name, go for it! Accessories are a great way to understand what your personal style is and how you can showcase it. Don’t be shy about choosing bold pieces that might be out of your comfort zone! Bold is Beautiful.
If you’ve shopped at the same stores for years and aren’t happy with what you’ve got, it’s time to make some changes. I’m not saying you have to completely cut them off, but try to go out of your comfort zone and shop at some stores you normally wouldn’t. And make sure you’re trying to put yourself out there and figure out what you actually like. If your closet is full of black, white, and grays, start off with a textured shirt or a really bright pair of mules. Your wardrobe doesn’t have to change overnight, but every closet needs a few bright and bold staple pieces.
Essentials Are Priority
If you’ve spent enough time in your closet, you know it well. You might feel like a lot of your wardrobe isn’t working, but chances are there are pieces you do love and feel great wearing. These are your ride-or-die pieces or better know as your wardrobe essentials. Essentials are really the only things you absolutely need to have to get dressed and feel fabulous. Whether they’re jeans, maxi skirts, or tees of every color, keep them in mind next time you go shopping for your summer style upgrade. A new pair of jeans can work miracles in your closet and make every outfit feel a little bit newer. When you buy pieces that you wear often, you feel better about your closet and what’s in it. There’s no harm in trying something new, but don’t give everything in your closet the boot!
Find Your Perfect Purse
Purses are probably one of my absolute favorite accessories. They’re a great way to add some color or personality to any outfit, and they serve a very important purpose – keeping my life organized! As much as I love having 20 different purses to choose from every day, a purse is definitely something that deserves quality over quantity. You don’t have to spend your rent on a designer label, but you can buy something that doesn’t look super cheap, either. This is another great time to test your limits with patterns, colors, and sizes. Try something new and see what work and what doesn’t. A great purse can be worn with a little black dress, a work outfit, or even with your leggings and quarter-zip!
Nail Polish and Lipstick To The Rescue
Beauty trends are constantly changing and can be really difficult to keep up with. But changing up your manicure or lipstick can make a total difference in an outfit you’ve had for years. I always feel so much more polished with a fresh manicure and feel more inclined to put some effort into what I put on for the day. It’s not only a mental transformation, but it is a great way to reinvent your summer style, too! If you’re not a fan of heavy makeup, bold lipstick is a perfect addition to your beauty routine. You don’t have to put in a ton of effort to look like you put in a ton of effort! The best way to maximize the benefits of nail and lip colors is to go bolder than bold. The great thing is, if you don’t like a color, you’re not throwing tons of money down the drain. Nail and lip colors are a great way to refresh your wardrobe at a bargain!
Whether you’re going on a family vacation, girl’s trip, or just taking a day trip, your summer should be spent having fun! And there’s no bigger buzzkill than a closet that feels less than average. So the next time your summer style is in need of a serious face-lift remember it’s a lot easier than it looks. What are some of your favorite tips to boost your summer style?
