Let me start by asking you a few questions…

Do you stare at your closet with frustration?
Do you struggle to find clothes that reflect your lifestyle?
Do you want to save time each morning and stop worrying about what to wear?
Do you want to stop random buying and begin to shop with a purpose?

If you find yourself answering yes to any of these questions, I’m here for you! I totally get it!

In January 2016, I moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma (my hometown) from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina due to a need to be closer to my family. I had nothing to wear except “warm weather” clothes, plus the Polos I wore teaching school. (28 years spent as an elementary school teacher). I was now embarking on a new career as a stylist and I realized that I needed a completely new wardrobe. Through my company, Chic Galleria Publications I’ve been working for over 15 years with huge magazines like Vogue, Elle, and Lucky to name a few. I’ve collaborated with some amazing designers, brands, and celebrities, too. But a large part of my business was working behind the scenes; behind my computer so to speak.

Over the years, I’d been spending a lot of time reading posts by other bloggers about capsule wardrobes. However, it was hard for me to wrap my head around only having 20 pieces of clothing in my closet. Susie Faux’s original capsule wardrobe concept in the 1970s reflects a dozen items to interchange year-round, however that philosophy just didn’t work for me. That’s when I decided I was going to make my own rules!

I knew I wanted clothes that were classic, timeless and would allow for multiple outfit options. I discovered that there are items that are considered “essentials”. This is when I revamped my wardrobe to include all the pieces mentioned in my e-book, How to Curate and Cultivate Your Dream Wardrobe. My process includes a Year-Round Base Capsule Collection, a Spring/Summer Capsule Collection, and a Fall/Winter Capsule Collection. My 168 YEAR-ROUND OUTFITS EBOOK will show you how to start a basic wardrobe with essential classic pieces to make year-round outfits.

I firmly believe in the formula I have created. With this formula, I keep my spending to a minimum due to mainly adding accessories or replacing the clothes that are worn or don’t fit correctly anymore. It makes life a whole lot simpler, therefore defining my personal style. Now I always feel like I have something awesome to wear, be it Monday morning coffee with a client or a meeting with the city staff. Every single item hanging in my closet is something I love to wear. How would you like to say that?

Having a capsule wardrobe is a daily reminder that I have control of my own style.

Everything in my collections can be dressed up or down depending on how you choose to style it. I hope that you can wrap your head around my method and the process. It changed my life!

You can grab my free guide, How to Build the Perfect Wardrobe and also get access to my free Resource Library.

I created this website, encompassing my capsule wardrobe philosophy, so you can start from scratch. My goal is that you find it invigorating and also fun. My hope is that you are willing to try something new and that this philosophy will simplify your life as much as it has mine.

Interesting read! Did moving states have any impact in your taste in clothing?

No, it definitely didn’t change my style or the new items that I chose. It was more about my general frustration with my clothes.

Awesome post!! There is nothing more frustrating than staring at a closet full of clothes but having nothing to wear! I’ve never heard of the concept of a capsule wardrobe, but definitely struggle with finding something to wear most days.
